Fair Fuel Campaign
Customer Information - Monday 31st Oct 2011We support the Fair Fuel campaign and would urge all our customers and employees to read and act on the advice below received from the Fair Fuel team:
Parliament is not listening to you.
We need you to send an email to your MP. Here is why and instructions on how to do so.
During the summer, we lodged a petition on the Governments own ePetition site about the need to cut fuel duty. This was on the understanding that reaching 100,000 signatures would trigger a Parliamentary debate on this key issue. With the help of our tens of thousands of supporters like yourself, we collected the 100,000 signatures in just over 8 weeks, actually hitting the 100,000 target on 30th September 2011.
Since that time, we have attended two meetings of the Back Bench Business Committee of the House of Commons which decides on what should be debated and when.
This Committee are now saying that they do not have enough time to allocate for the debate on this, the most vital of national issues. They say that the Government has notgiven them the time.
HOWEVER, we get the impression that the Government are saying that there is enough time. We now believe that our campaign is being pushed ‘from pillar to post’. This leaves the 100,000 and more signees to the petition, all our other supporters, and the millions or struggling families and businesses across Britain without the debate that they were lead to believe would happen!
We need your help to make the Government understand that people are desperately struggling with the crisis of high petrol & diesel prices. Families are really struggling. Businesses are collapsing. The Government is missing the fact that cutting fuel duty would actually help them as it would lead to more jobs, more growth and higher tax receipts across the economy.
This situation is outrageous and unacceptable. Please click on the link below and you will be able send an email directly to your MP. Simply enter your postcode and follow the instructions. Your MP will be highlighted and a draft email/letter we have prepared is there for you to edit as you so wish. You can simply change the sample email/letter shown to your own style and content or just click to send.

We are not giving up on this fight for common sense..
Best wishes

50th Anniversary celebration
Company News - Monday 26th Jul 2010To celebrate the 50th trading year of the company we held a barbeque at Stoneham Park for all employees, past and present, together with their families. Three hundred and fifty people turned up and we all had a great time. Everyone enjoyed the display of our latest vehicles and trailers, which together with pony rides, tractor rides, a steam train, laser shotgun, bouncy castles, face painting, children's show and live jazz band made for a memorable day.
The highlight of the event was when Ray Lambert made a speech about the history of the company. He thanked all employees past and present who had made a such a great contribution to the company's success. He made particular mention of those employees who had more than ten years service. After his speech presentations were made by long service employees to Ray and his brother Tony, who were the two founders of the company. Bouquets of flowers were presented to Ray's wife Shirley and Tony's wife Libby. All in all a fantastic day and the weather was kind too! The picture shows Ray and Tony Lambert.
Flat bed vehicles and trailers
Customer Information - Tuesday 22nd Sep 2009We are one of the few hauliers in the area who operate flatbed vehicles and trailers. Our drivers are experienced in handling a wide range of loads. This picture shows Steve, who has just loaded his vehicle, M60 LAM, a 26 tonne 6 wheeler, the only Renault in the fleet. He has filled up with diesel and is all ready to go first thing in the morning.
Palletline Hub visit
Company News - Friday 10th Apr 2009Last month we organised a visit to the new Palletline Hub at Birmingham for some of our customers. Leaving Eastleigh at 6pm we didn't return until 2am the following morning! After a quick supper at the Metropole Hotel near the NEC we went to the Hub where Kevin Buchanan, Managing Director of Palletline, gave a presentation on the workings of the Hub. We then had a very interesting tour of the facilities which included our coach going through QC and the tipping lanes. In view of the lateness of the hour we were very impressed with our customers who attended and thank them for their interest.
If you would like a visit to the Hub please let us know as we will be arranging another one in due course.
Aerodynamic double deckers
Company News - Wednesday 29th Aug 2007We have updated and increased our Palletline trunker fleet with four new double deck trailers, designed with a curved aerodynamic front bulkhead. We anticipate up to 8% fuel savings which will be very welcome on the 300 miles round trip to the Palletline Birmingham hub. The trailers have been supplied by Decker trailers and other features include a mesh top deck and internal load restraint straps.
New yard facilities
Customer Information - Friday 4th Feb 2005In mid-February we started to upgrade our main yard facilities. This involved completely resurfacing the yard with block pavers. At the same time, an improved drainage system was installed and the yard lighting was upgraded.
Visitors please note that access through the main gate will be restricted on some days. There is normally adequate parking available around the corner on Woodside Road or in Goodwood Road.
It is anticipated that the work will take six weeks to complete.
Warm welcome to our Polish drivers
Company News - Tuesday 9th Nov 2004Following a visit to Poland by our Managing Director, we have now recruited six Polish drivers. They have settled in very well and already proved to be hard workers. Two nights each week they take English lessons, but already our traffic office have learnt a few key Polish phrases! Until their English has improved a little we would ask for your forbearance when dealing with them. If you have any difficulties communicating with them please call our office. We have personnel on site with the necessary language skills to help out.
Our first two pedal vehicle
Company News - Tuesday 14th Sep 2004We have just taken delivery of our first tractor unit with a fully automatic gearbox. There is no clutch. The vehicle in question is a Volvo FM 12 Globetrotter 420 6 x 2 tractor with the latest I-Shift gearbox.
We have been attracted by the good reports this vehicle has been receiving regarding good mpg, less wear and tear on running gear and ease of use. Drivers have plenty to concentrate on these days with timed deliveries, traffic congestion etc. so anything that can give them a less stressful time in the cab will be beneficial.
Three more Globetrotters will on the road on 1st October in time for our busy period up to Christmas and we have another two on order. If our expectations are met this could be the specification of the future.
